Piecemakers

Quilters, want-to-be-quilters, and even those who struggle to use a pair of scissors gather twice a month for lots of laughter, fellowship and service.

The BSLC Piecemakers make baby quilts and knitted or crocheted baby afghans for Christ Child Society. Christ Child Society includes one of these handmade quilts or blankets into a full layette and gifts them to disadvantaged new mothers. The Piecemakers stitch “Jesus loves me” on each blanket, as a reminder of God's love.

Additionally, the Piecemakers create comfort quilts for church members, friends or family during times of significant illness or trauma. Recipients have bragged that these comfort quilts are the perfect size for people receiving cancer treatments. Each quilt has a Bible verse cross stitched on it and prayers are said over the quilts, both as a group and as individuals make the stitches.

This unique time of fellowship and service comes with a snack, coffee, and conversation among the quilters. Some only tie knots. Some bring their machines. Some are new to quilting and want to try it out and learn. We have the fabric, the batting, and threads, and are always welcoming more Piecemakers!

The BSLC Piecemakers are scheduled to stitch on the 2nd and 4th Mondays of each month from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. RSVP if you would like to start attending or learn more!
