Questions about BSLC?

I'm not Lutheran. Am I welcome?

Yes, you are welcome! Some of our members grew up in the Lutheran church, while others have not. Some members were previously Catholic, Methodist, Presbyterian, or Baptist – while some have no prior religious orientation. We wholeheartedly invite you to learn more about Beautiful Savior and the tenants of the Lutheran faith by visiting one of our services and meeting the people of our congregation. To get a preview, please feel free to watch our latest worship service here.

What do people wear to worship services?

We have people who dress up in suits and those who dress casually in khakis or jeans. You are welcome to attend how you would feel most comfortably attired, but if it helps to note, we notice that people tend to dress up more for our traditional worship services while those attending our chapel and contemporary worship services tend to dress more casually. Of course, this is not a fast and hard rule. We invite you to experience Beautiful Savior for yourself.

Do I need to arrive early for worship services?

Not necessarily. While we would love for you to have time to talk to our greeters and get seated comfortably before the sermon begins, you are welcome to arrive at the start of the service. You'll even notice some of families arriving just in time for the Children's Message. We are just excited to welcome you to worship. If you give yourself an extra 10-15 minutes, you will get a chance to get familiar with our building and meet some new friends along the way. We offer ample handicapped parking and a roomy sanctuary for guests.

Do you provide childcare during worship services?

We offer a variety of services for our families with children.

Our nursery is staffed on Sundays from 9:00 a.m. at the start of our Traditional service, until the completion of the 11:15 Contemporary service. Families may choose to leave their children (newborn through age 5) with the nursery staff for the duration of the service, or retrieve their kids in time for the families to take communion/receive a blessing.

We rejoice in the noises our children make for the Lord, and so families also choose to bring their children to service. Upon entering the sanctuary you are greeted by a children's area, equipped with a table and chairs, coloring sheets, quiet toys and crafts.

Learn more about our service types and family-friendly programs.

How large is the congregation?

On average, weekly attendance by members and guests is approximiately 200. We also enjoy ministering to our online members located across the country. Within our church, we have joyously held more than 1000 baptisms, and more than 500 confirmations.

Which style of worship service is best for me?

We offer a small, contemplative worship service Saturday nights in the chapel and a traditional worship service Sunday morning at 9:30 AM, followed by a contemporary worship service at 11:15 AM. Families tend to enjoy either of our Sunday services as we have a children's area at the back of the church with activities and toys that allows parents to relax while enjoying the fellowship of other members and guests. We also post recordings of our worship services for those who need or prefer to worship online. Please visit our Worship With Us page to learn more.

Do I need to be a member to take communion?

As a believer, you are welcome to partake in our weekly communion. You do not need to be a member of the church to partake. Communion is taken to:

  • Commemorate the death of Christ: "This do in remembrance of me."
  • Signify, seal, and apply to believers all the benefits of the new covenant. In this ordinance Christ ratifies his promises to his people, and they on their part solemnly consecrate themselves to him and to his entire service.
  • Be a badge of the Christian profession.
  • Indicate and to promote the communion of believers with Christ.
  • Represent the mutual communion of believers with each other.

Is the music very loud at the contemporary worship service?

Our contemporary music service includes percussion, string instruments, piano, and praise singers at a volume that is comfortable for all-ages and ears. While some contemporary services are akin to a full scale concert in terms of volume and display, our contemporary music ministry is right-sized for our space, format, and congregation.

Do you offer bible study or other forms of fellowship?

Yes, we offer several ways to connect with other church members and study the bible. Please visit our Children & Families page as well as our Fellowship page for more about Adult programming and outreach.
