Vanessa Rubin with the Scott Gwinnell Quartet: Music from the Cinema

Friday, October 11, 7:00 p.m.

Revered as both a torchbearer and a storyteller, jazz vocalist Vanessa Rubin possesses a voice hailed for crystalline clarity, hearth-like warmth and playful lioness sass. The Cleveland native brings a wealth of diverse influences to her vocal performance from both the Trinidadian/Caribbean roots of her mother and traditional jazz by way of her Louisiana-born father.

Scott Gwinnell is a professional jazz pianist residing in Detroit, MI. Scott, has been performing since the age of 16 in venues and on concert stages, local to international. Scott has recorded and performed as a bandleader and sideman on over 50 professionally released recordings. As a recording artist for Detroit Music Factory, Scott has released two award-winning albums, Cass Corridor Story and Mulgrew-ology, the latter winning three Detroit Music Awards for outstanding recording, artist, and composer.

The concert is FREE to the public, though good will offerings will be accepted.

Celebrate Christmas with Alexander Zonjic

Friday, December 13, 7:00 p.m.

Come enjoy a wonderful evening of music. This is a non-ticketed event, but there will be a free will offering.

A native of Windsor, Ontario Alexander Zonjic is a 15-time Detroit Music Awards winner with deep and multi-faceted ties to and influence on the city.

Over the years, as Zonjic puts it, he has morphed from “that flute guy from Canada” into the owner of a veritable cottage industry as the artistic director and producer of more than 10 annual festival events in the region and philanthropist under the umbrella of his Hi-Falutin Music.  .

Believing in Gandhi’s words that the “best way to find oneself is to lose oneself in the service of others,” Zonjic and Hi-Falutin work with numerous large charity organizations in the Detroit area.
