Do you feel forgotten, or do you know someone who feels that way? The shepherds working in the fields were figurately and literally doing the dirty work of others, and yet their society made them outcasts. Still, if was to these people forgotten by humans that the angels first brought the good news about Jesus’s birth. Today, we consider their indescribable joy at being remembered by God and even placed first in line, and we see how this jubilation can be a guide when people forget us.
