It has been 3 months since we first approached the congregation about forming a Welcome Team for a Ukrainian family.
Beautiful Savior has been matched with a wonderful family of three - mom, dad & 2 year old boy. They're working hard to get settled in this unfamiliar country while caring for their young son. Mom and dad are eager to start working and making their way. Both are educated, highly employable and are learning how to navigate the workforce in English. They just need some time and a bit of help to get "caught up."
We've been working with the family to get their son registered for Head Start and preschool so that he can start learning English while mom & dad can work full-time. Having a safe and educational setting for him will be an important milestone for the family.
We want to show our gratitude to everyone who has contributed to this effort thus far. The family has made strides toward self sufficiency, but we still have quite a long way to go. We have committed to supporting this family for a fixed period of time - just 6 months. We can use your help. Monetary donations are always welcomed. We estimate that this family will need at least $10,000 for the next 6 months.
If you'd like to help our family live more comfortably in their new home, we will also be setting up a Birthday Caring Cake (similar to our Christmas Giving Tree). Mom, dad and son all have summer birthdays, and we'd love to help shower them all with birthday gifts. Their home is currently rather sparse, essentially containing just the supplies necessary to make their son comfortable. We'd love to be able to help them fully furnish their home. Watch for updates about dates and items we'd like to provide the family.
