Dear People of Beautiful Savior,
Congratulations and job well done!
The loan/mortgage that began in 2002 with the construction of the Welcome Center, and that eventually included expenses for other projects, is being eliminated this week as we send the final payment check. Your vision and generosity accomplished this difficult feat, and we did it ahead of schedule. We plan during an upcoming worship service, a date still to be determined, to burn a copy of the loan as a way to thank God for this accomplishment. We also burn this loan to celebrate the wise and generous stewardship of resources for God’s mission through Beautiful Savior.
While there can be good debt and bad debt in life, some of you have heard me say that I have an allergy to church financial debt. Certainly, we may discern a need in the future to enter into another loan, but know that it would not be done lightly. In fact, this is why we have a reserve fund, why we seek to augment the strength of that reserve fund, why we began an endowment this last year, and why we endeavor whenever possible to pay cash in full for projects. We are called to be visionary as we step forward in faith as well as thoughtful and diligent in taking those steps.
It is truly an honor to serve as your pastor and to witness the entrepreneurial spirit of the people of Beautiful Savior. It is a blessing that my family and I can be part of our congregation during a time that our momentum of spiritual and numerical growth in propelling forward despite everything the world is throwing at us. Thank you, and again, congratulations.
