Jonah’s story begins with him trying to run from God by sailing to the end of the known world. Jonah soon discovered this futility when God sent a storm to begin to turn him is the right direction while he was asleep in the bottom of a boat. By comparison, we hear a story about Jesus also asleep in the bottom of a boat during a storm, though Jesus awoke to calm the wind and waves revealing the power of God at work through him.
