Isaiah 20 - Preaching Naked

Bizarre Bible Stories

The Bible says what!? Yes, there are some pretty bizarre stories in the Bible. Whether it’s the story about Paul preaching so long that someone fell asleep and then literally fell from a three-story window to his death, or the story about one of God’s prophets who preached without clothing, these are some stories that we don’t teach children in Sunday School. Quite frankly, many adults have never heard these stories either. However, these events were recorded in the Bible for a reason. The point of our summer sermon series, Bizarre Bible Stories, is to dig into these stories and find the meaning behind them. Beautiful Savior’s goal is that, through this sermon series, you will enjoy a lot of the humor found in the Bible, some of which is hidden and some of which is not so hidden, but all of which gives us lessons for living today.

This Week

We are looking into Isaiah Chapter 20. We promise this is not a “visual aid” Brief Bible Dive … I enjoy serving Beautiful Savior and would like to keep my call here. But the premise and title of this week sounds absurd, doesn’t it? Well, not so for the prophet Isaiah, who decided that he would give a visual demonstration of what would happen to the people if they trusted in foreign military might rather than the living God – they would be led away in shame without the clothes on their backs.
