A Letter From Pastor

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
Therefore we will not fear, though the earth should change, though the mountains shake in the heart of the sea; though its waters roar and foam, though the mountains tremble with its tumult. – Psalm 46:1-3

UPDATED PROTOCOL
Dear People of Beautiful Savior,

Based on the recommendation of our Governor, The Hon. Gretchen Whitmer, the following things need to take place:

The Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church Early Learning Center will be closed in alignment with the Bloomfield Hills School System. We will be closed until further notice, dependent on the recommendation of the governor and school system.

We do not plan to meet for worship this weekend. Worship will be available by livestream through Facebook. We will livestream the Sunday 9:00 a.m. worship time on Facebook. Please type your name(s) in the comment section of the livestream so that we know you have joined with us.

Worship will be recorded, so it can be viewed at bslcmi.org at a later time/date if you wish.

Thankfully, in Christ’s Service,
Pastor Nik

Offerings: Beautiful Savior will continue to function as an institution as we all navigate these uncharted waters. It is pivotal that offerings continue to be received so that our resurgence of spiritual and numerical growth which we are enjoying is not stunted. This may be the right time for you or your household to switch to automated electronic giving. If you wish to do so, please contact the church office at 248-646-5041. Also, electronic donations can be made through our website: www.bslcmi.org. Checks can be sent to the office:

Bring a Friend: We end worship with a call to bring a friend the next week. In this case, you may have a family member, friend, neighbor, etc. whose congregation does not have the capacity to offer a livestream worship time. If that’s the case, we are more than happy to be a place they can virtually land for a few weeks until this health situation becomes less of a crisis.

Charge (Middle School Youth Gathering):
Cancelled: Our Middle School youth were planning to go to a youth gathering at Great Wolf Lodge in Traverse City. The event has been cancelled as a public health precaution. Please keep the Middle School youth in your prayers during this disappointing time. Also, please consider contacting me (Pastor Nik) or our Minister of Faith Formation (Michelle) to offer ways you may be able to support and encourage these youth in their budding faiths.

PI Day (Family Night-In Event):
Postponed: This fun family event will be rescheduled once things begin to settle. It might be late May or early June.

Funerals:
Still Happening: The two funerals over this weekend will still take place.

Monday Night Potluck and Bible Study:
Potluck – Cancelled: The Lenten potlucks on Mondays at 6:00 p.m. will be cancelled, since a close space eating environment can increase opportunities for transmission.

Bible Study – Still Happening: The Monday Bible Studies, Bible Journey, will still be led by Pastor Nik from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. We ask that people spread themselves out between the many tables in the Welcome Center.

Moms Making Meals:
Cancelled: The Thursday, March 19, event will not take place.

Thank you to everyone for your amazing diligence and patience as we venture into unknown territory. There are things that are known, however. We know that God is with us in this situation, and we know that we are blessed to live in a place and time where healthcare is superb. Therefore, we should pray for those people who do not have access to the care with which we are blessed. Please feel free to contact me with any questions at prnik@bslcmi.org or 248-646-5041; if you leave a voicemail in my personal mailbox at the church office, it should forward to me within minutes.

Thankfully, in Christ’s Service,
Pastor Nik
