Middle School and Catechism

The schedule for 2018-2019:
Class meets the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of each month from 6:30-8:00 p.m. beginning on September 11.

Catechism is a two year program that focuses on learning important scripture stories, understanding Luther’s Small Catechism, and how these connect to our daily lives. Students meet in class twice each month, with family homework assignments in between.  Students also work through the year with an adult mentor from within the congregation.

Students and families are also encouraged to participate in some special events and retreats through the year, be an active part of our worshiping community, and to serve others through projects in the congregation or the community.

The middle school catechism instruction program at Beautiful Savior is for students in grades seventh – eighth. Students in this age group are going through a large transition as they move from the lower elementary grades, so we work to provide a learning space that is accepting and relaxing and helps them to meet new friends and gain new understanding as they grow in God’s love.

We want our young people to experience all aspects of the Christian faith from reading and understanding scripture to learning our Christian and Lutheran history and what it means to apply it in their daily lives. Our confirmation instruction prepares our middle school students to become adult members of our Christian community. Together our young students are encouraged and supported as they explore their faith and solidify their understanding of being Christian.
